Top Four Tips to Detect Spy Gadgets

Do you get the feeling that you're being watched? Do you feel unsafe when you're moving about your house, driving to work or just walking on the street? Is your sixth sense screaming at you that you are being tailed? If this is so, the information given in this article will help you detect the spy gadgets tracking your movements.

With technology advancing at such a fast pace, small surveillance cameras can be bought at very cheap prices, and the standard spying camera measures only 30mm x 30mm x 30mm or less in magnitude. This means these cameras may be concealed virtually anywhere - behind walls and mirrors; inside stuff toys, books, watches, showpieces, alarm clocks, frames, and various other commonly used items.

With that thought in mind, it is highly possible that a spy gadget is hidden in your house or office and you're completely unaware of it. If you think a covert spying device is spying on you, the tips given below will be helpful in locating them.

Using an RF (Radio Frequency) Bug Detector

An RF bug detector conducts a quick sweep to detect wireless spy gadgets in an area. There are many different kinds of spy bug detectors available. Make sure to buy one that can detect common spy camera transmitting frequencies (5.8GHz, 2.4GHz, 1.2GHz and 900MHz). The detector is simple to use: just move slowly around the area, waving the device over the walls and floors of the area.

When you detect a source of transmission, you must determine whether it is a routine transmission (a Wifi network or a wireless thermostat) or an actual spy gadget. Thus, an RF transmitter will give you an indication that there is a spy camera transmitting signals in the room.

Using a Camera Detector Device

While camera detector gadgets are slower devices to use than RF bug detectors, they are ideal for locating non-transmitting spy cameras. A camera detector is a slim, elongated gadget equipped with a glass viewfinder. Looking through this viewfinder, you'll be able to see the sparkling of hidden camera lens owing to specially designed LEDs attached on its other side. Using these smart optics, detecting any spy gadget becomes highly simplified, provided it's not concealed behind plastic or glass surfaces. Thus, the camera detector enables you to spot hidden cameras through the glimmer of camera lens.

Look Around For Black Dots or Holes

The lens of a pinhole camera has a diameter of only 1mm to 3mm, so they can be easily hidden in tiny places and become virtually undetectable. Accordingly, you need to examine small spaces in the floor or walls where these cameras may be fitted. Use both your eyes and hands to uncover these tiny spy gadgets. See if you can detect any unusual spots or patterns in the area, as these may be hiding places for a pinhole camera. If you come across anything suspicious, examine it using an RF detector and/or a spying camera detector to see if you've located a hidden camera.

Keep a Lookout For Disturbed Furniture

Does the furniture in the room look disturbed or as if it's been moved around? If so, it's a classic sign of recent tampering in the area. See if there are any strange or new objects lying around; keep a lookout for disturbed floor or ceiling tiles, wall dust or dislodged bricks. These signs will alert you to the fact that there may be a hidden spy gadget somewhere in the vicinity.

Spy cameras can only record when they have a direct line of vision to the object, so start with areas that can directly observe your movements. This will help you formulate a plan to go about finding the spy gadget, which may otherwise take up extensive time to locate.

These four tips can help you find unwanted spy gadgets hidden around your home or workplace. Sometimes, it pays to be paranoid as there may be malicious people trying to harm you!
